Pickled Peach Salad with Ham and Cheese

2017-09-01T06:03:13+00:00

If adventures in North African/Persian food defined my winter my summer has been all about pickles and salads and this pickled peach salad with ham and cheese follows on from the likes of my Panzanella and Thai Beef Salad in this seasons culinary ramblings.

Kinda Caprese Salad

2017-08-08T04:29:17+00:00

Here I go again playing around with classical dishes which I am sure will horrify some. Of course a classic Caprese salad is a wonderful thing the cream milky mozzarella cheese with sweet ripe tomatoes and almost metallic basil is a match made in heaven, all I have done is added a little spinach, balsamic and popcorn... "Whoooahhhh, hold on" I hear you shout you added popcorn? My answer would be "yup"! Popcorn has a long association with a trip to the movies and I have played with an [...]

Panzanella Salad Picnic Perfection

2017-07-14T05:37:50+00:00

As a Brit I am almost obligated to point out that a Panzanella Salad is the second best way to use up older 'stale' bread, naturally the best way is of course bread and butter pudding... But you are pretty hard pushed to enjoy a bread and butter pudding on a summers day on a picnic, a panzanella salad on the other hand is a completely different matter, it is perfect for a picnic.

Orange and Harissa Salmon with Fennel

2017-07-07T11:42:55+00:00

I have no idea if this harissa salmon dish is a salad or not, but given that I am not much one for labels who cares, one thing it most certainly is though, is a delightfully light yet filling summer dish rocking the spicy aromatic flavours of harissa and rosewater mixed with orange and fennel.

Towering Foolproof Yorkshire Pudding

2017-07-15T14:15:19+00:00

I cannot believe you can buy frozen Yorkshire pudding, they join the likes of frozen baked potatoes and roasted potatoes foods most ridiculous products, I am not averse to taking the odd short cut but buying frozen Yorkshire pudding to save the 90 seconds it takes to mix together 4 ingredients is mental.

Homemade Tomato Ketchup

2017-07-20T06:35:30+00:00

I honestly think I grew up on tomato ketchup, not homemade tomato ketchup at all but I would smear that stuff on everything and if ketchup was not on offer then the chances of me turning my nose up at dinner were exceptionally high. Fortunately my taste buds have altered and matured along with me and now my need for the red stuff is not so high but I still love it and homemade tomato ketchup is now the only way to go for me. Being able to tweak [...]
