Beef & Lamb Recipes!
Beef and lamb are relatively rare in Hungary, or certainly our corner of rural Hungary anyway… However they are a favourite of mine so I will occasionally splash the cash and cook one of my favourite dishes. It would be hard to pick a favourite of the following dishes, all absolute barnstormers typically using a little meat but getting the maximum flavour out of it!
Much like the scene scene from Full Metal Jacket, I firmly believe that “This is my ‘Instantpot chili recipe’. There are many like it, but this one is mine.”, I do not however view it as either my best friend or my life, more a warm and welcoming friend that just makes things a little bit better.
Sometimes meals really are just beautifully steaming pile of flavour packed food, there is little point in trying to dress up this beef dopiaza as anything other than a wonderful solution to the bitter and biting cold we have at the moment and I would have it no other way. My love of the great Anglo Indian Curry is well documented here and this dish is the first Indian 'Fakeaway' I have cooked in my InstantPot and boy is it good.
Yes I know Osso Bucco is traditionally made with Veal and that osso bucco is usually made with white wine, however even in Hungary where Veal is relatively easily available the shin of veal is nigh on impossible to find, so this recipe is a sideways glance at a traditional recipe but one that the InstantPot deals with beautifully and one myself and my wife really love.
