Project Description

Beef & Lamb Recipes!

Beef and lamb are relatively rare in Hungary, or certainly our corner of rural Hungary anyway… However they are a favourite of mine so I will occasionally splash the cash and cook one of my favourite dishes. It would be hard to pick a favourite of the following dishes, all absolute barnstormers typically using a little meat but getting the maximum flavour out of it!

Bacon Wrapped Grilled Stuffed Onions

June 7th, 2018|Al Fresco Cooking, Beef & Lamb Recipes|

Do I have a treat for you with these bacon-wrapped grilled stuffed onions! Where on earth do I start, grilled onions are amazing, smokey, sweet and glorious. But then wrap them in bacon and yowsers. Hold your horses though these are stuffed onions, stuffed with a fennel and Worcestershire sauce meatball... Then to blow your mind just a little bit more glazed with a BBQ sauce.

Traditional Cornish Pasty

April 3rd, 2018|Beef & Lamb Recipes|

A traditional Cornish Pasty dates back to the 13th century and unsurprisingly is the source of much discussion, nay argument. However to call this dish famous in the UK would be an understatement, any food stuff name checked in classics like the Robin Hood Chronicles, the Canterbury Tales and no less than three works of Shakespeare is no shrinking violet.

Moroccan Beef Meatballs with Bulgar Wheat and Chickpeas

January 30th, 2018|Beef & Lamb Recipes, Spicy Recipes|

These Moroccan influenced beef meatballs join an ever growing list of meatballs from around the world, meatballs are just magic, a wonderfully economic way of stretching meat a little further and providing a big hearty meal at a bargain basement cost.

Instant Pot Beef Bourguinon With Celeriac Mash

December 12th, 2017|Beef & Lamb Recipes, InstantPot Recipes|

It is definitely stew season so I broke out my Instant Pot to work on a new beef bourguinon recipe and this bad boy is great… It is fit and ready to go in an hour rather than the several hours it would normally take and uses probably the cheapest cut of beef you can find, shin,

Beef Stroganoff

November 3rd, 2017|Beef & Lamb Recipes|

This beef stroganoff has been a long time in coming, I posted my mushroom stroganoff recipe almost 2 years ago and stated back then that I would choose mushroom stroganoff over beef any day of the week. That thought kinda irked me a little, shrooms are great but c’mon it’s beef it’s gotta be good right? Anyway I went back to the drawing board, I mean all the way back to recipes from the 1800’s.

InstantPot Beef Dopiaza Curry

January 26th, 2017|Beef & Lamb Recipes, FakeAways, InstantPot Recipes|

Sometimes meals really are just beautifully steaming pile of flavour packed food, there is little point in trying to dress up this beef dopiaza as anything other than a wonderful solution to the bitter and biting cold we have at the moment and I would have it no other way. My love of the great Anglo Indian Curry is well documented here and this dish is the first Indian 'Fakeaway' I have cooked in my InstantPot and boy is it good.

Instant Pot Beef ‘Osso Bucco’ with Polenta

January 20th, 2017|Beef & Lamb Recipes, InstantPot Recipes|

Yes I know Osso Bucco is traditionally made with Veal and that osso bucco is usually made with white wine, however even in Hungary where Veal is relatively easily available the shin of veal is nigh on impossible to find, so this recipe is a sideways glance at a traditional recipe but one that the InstantPot deals with beautifully and one myself and my wife really love.
