This gochujang king prawn stir fry leans on ingredients that I almost always have in my store cupboard, fridge or freezer to create a simple and delicious meal with loose Korean influences in right around 20 minutes.
If your prawns are frozen, place them in a colander or sieve and run them under cold water until they are defrosted.
Peel the ginger and cut it into thin batons.
Mix the gochujang paste with the honey, fish sauce, mirin, sesame oil, white pepper and MSG.
Cut the white part of the spring onions into 2cm (¾") long pieces and finely slice the green part of the spring onions, keeping these separate.
Heat a wok over a high heat, and when it is hot, add the oil, followed by the white part of the spring onions and the ginger batons.Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
Throw in the prawns and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
Pour in the sauce and cook for another 60-90 seconds.
Serve sprinkled with the green part of the spring onions.
