Sweet chilli sauce and lime baked salmon fillet is a delicious and incredibly easy dinner to make, there are few ingredients and no chopping.
Did I mention quick? Prep takes a very leisurely 10 minutes, and it cooks in under 15 minutes whilst delivering perfectly cooked fish.

Spicy Baked Salmon
I love fish, and I always consider it to be the ultimate ingredient in a quick dinner. It's incredibly tasty, really nutritious and "healthy", and generally speaking, cooks very quickly.
It doesn't matter if I am after something showy, like my roasted halibut with potted shrimp or lemon sole meuniere, or something altogether more "humble" like my orange marmalade-glazed salmon or devilled salmon.
My latest recipe falls into the "humble" category... and this will likely be the easiest dinner you make this week.
This sweet chilli sauce baked salmon requires little preparation outside of zesting a lime and squeezing it!
You literally chuck a load of stuff in a baking dish, roll the fish around in it and throw it in the oven for 12-15 minutes.
Despite all of its simplicity, it tastes fantastic, and baking it in lots of sauce protects the fish from overcooking, making it pretty much foolproof!

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this with different fish?
Yes, this recipe and methodology work fairly well with other types of fish; sea trout is probably the best alternative.
You could make this with white fish like cod loin, or halibut, but the flavours are very bold for mildly flavoured and expensive fish. If you want to do it with white fish, try it with pollock or coley, which are both much cheaper.
What sweet chilli sauce do you use?
I use Flying Goose sweet chilli sauce, it's my favourite brand that is readily available in supermarkets.
Can I use lime juice rather than a lime?
Yes, use 1½-2 tablespoons.
Can I use soy sauce rather than fish sauce?
Yes, although it will change the flavour profile in this recipe, not in a bad way, it's just different.
Add 1 tablespoon, give it a mix, have a taste and add more to taste.
Can I make this in advance?
No, this dish does not reheat well at all. It will lead to very overcooked salmon.

Serving Suggestions
I have served my sweet chilli sauce salmon with my egg fried rice recipe in the pictures on this page.
That does, of course, require a little planning, but if you haven't planned ahead, plain rice would work very well too. There is plenty of sauce to go around and liven up the rice.
Noodles are another great option; you could go for a plain chow mein or something like my sweet and sour udon noodles, if you want to double down on the sweet chilli sauce vibe.
If you really want to stick with the "lazy/easy" theme of this recipe, then throw some frozen French fries in the air fryer. The salty, crispy thing works incredibly well with the sweet chilli sauce.
