Air Fryer halloumi cheese in a delicious, quick and easy hot honey glaze seasoned with dried mint, sweet paprika and a splash of lemon juice.
This dish is incredibly low maintenance, all you need to do is pre-heat your air fryer whilst you mix the glaze. Then coat the cheese and cook for 6-8 minutes, you are all done and dusted in around 15 minutes!

Hot Honey Glazed Halloumi Cheese
I have grown to love halloumi cheese, that whole squeaky, sour, salty flavour tickles my fancy in so many ways.
I use it in so many ways, I've got fairly classic uses like my halloumi kebabs and halloumi burgers, to less obvious options like a halloumi cheese curry, halloumi fajitas and halloumi pasta.
On that there social media, I got asked recently if I could help out with cooking halloumi cheese in an air fryer, and here we are. If you want me to cook something, shout up, I'm always happy to take a crack!
Some delicious hot honey, dried mint and paprika glazed halloumi, it's delicious, simple and quick too.
All you need to do is knock up the glaze, coat the cheese and throw it in the air fryer for 6-8 minutes. If you like deep, dark and crispy edges that are almost burnt, go for 8 minutes, maybe even 9. If you like it pale, then go for 6 minutes.
It really is that simple, and surprisingly, it doesn't even make that much mess of the air fryer!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is hot honey?
Hot honey is nothing more than honey that has been infused with chilli before being packaged.
It's glorious and varies in heat considerably, but you get front-end sweetness which then flows into chilli heat.
Can I use regular honey?
Yes, this recipe works just as well with regular honey for those less keen on chilli heat.
Can I use fresh mint?
Fresh mint does risk burning in this recipe, it also tastes significantly different from dried mint. I would stick with dried mint for this recipe.
Can I use smoked paprika?
Yes, smoked paprika works perfectly well in this recipe. My time living in Hungary has given me a deep love of sweet paprika, hence its use here.
Can I make this in advance?
No, halloumi is not at its best when cold or at room temperature.
Can I cook this in a pan?
Yes, this can be cooked on a griddle pan or in a frying pan. Heat the pan until it is hot and fry it until its golden, then flip and repeat, it will take 2-3 minutes on each side depending on your pan temperature.

Serving Suggestions
My hot honey glazed air fryer halloumi cheese is pictured below with my take on pourgouri, a wonderful Cypriot bulgur wheat and vermicelli noodle dish. Above, it is pictured with my take on Lebanese batata harra.
But you could just as easily serve it with some herby buttered couscous or even some herbed bulgur wheat.
Sticking with the bulgur/couscous theme, this would be superb with my giant couscous salad or a classic tabbouleh salad.
It would also make a cracking filling for a halloumi cheese sandwich.
As for the glaze, it would be a fantastic alternative flavouring for my halloumi tray bake or to make my halloumi wraps.

Equipment Used
I only name-check brands of equipment if I think they make a material difference to a recipe. But, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments section below the recipe.
- Air Fryer, I use a Phillips XXL air fryer.
- Large flat bowl.
- A spoon to mix the glaze
- Spatula, an offset spatula with a 90° turn, is awesome for lifting stuff out of an air fryer.
- A combination of weighing scales and measuring spoons.

Air Fryer Halloumi Recipe with a Hot Honey Glaze
Ingredients
- 225 g Halloumi Cheese 8oz
For the Glaze:
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 2 tablespoon Hot Honey 40g
- 1 teaspoon Dried Mint
- 1 teaspoon Sweet paprika
- 1 teaspoon lemon Juice
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients for the glaze to the base of a flat bowl large enough to hold the sliced halloumi cheese, then mix it well to combine. You can do this up to 24 hours in advance; it will not add a great deal of flavour because halloumi is a "dense" cheese, but it does free up time.
- Slice the halloumi as desired, you can do 4-6 slices, cubes or even strips depending on what or how you want to serve the cheese. Then flip it in the glaze and let it sit for 5 minutes or so.
- 5 minutes before you are ready to cook, preheat your air fryer to 200°C or 390°F. Brush the grate of the air fryer with a little oil, add the cheese and cook for 6-8 minutes, then serve immediately drizzled with the remaining glaze.
